The Fijian staff 🙌 they are so welcoming, always happy and smiling and in daylight hours you can always hear George’s infectious laughter (unless he’s under the water 😃). The location of Oneta resort, Ono Island on The Great Astrolabe Reef cannot be overstated. It’s a short 50 minute flight from Nadi to Kadavu Island where we were greeted by resort staff, Boat Captain Sai and Leto, who made us feel welcome and safe. A warm and scenic boat ride and we arrived at Oneta resort. The staff greeted us, singing in beautiful harmony; it was quite moving, deeply connecting and unlike anything we have experienced in our travels. Head of Housekeeping Jonani ensured we were comfortable and well informed about Oneta Resort and the experiences available. Jonani was very professional, kind and gracious; he is also a fantastic masseuse. The design, layout and quality of the built infrastructure by Carpenter Mareselo (blessed with a deep, resonant singing voice 🙌), the gardens and Bure amenities felt very authentic, crafted and cared for (the Housekeeping Staff ensured we were always looked after). Coupled with the limited number of guests at the resort and the exceptional care and pride the staff take in maintaining the property and their wonderful personalities (nothing is contrived here) - it really added to to the sense of place, tranquility and safety. You can really let go of the modern world here. The Food 🙌 Chef Ben and his team create beautiful food, authentic and clean - either grown at the property, locally sourced or pulled straight from the Ocean. We loved it! Staff Kasa and Emma took gentle care with everything they did and made us feel like family. Bartender Ben ensures that the island vibes don’t create chaos at meal times, very professional and funny. Manta Ray/Snorkeling/Boat experiences: Highly skilled boat Captain Si (also a Dare Devil), Meli, Arthur and Leto know the reef and the tides like the back of their hands.

This is a truly special part of the world with the most beautiful people in the resort. We did our PADI certificates as a family and we couldn't have picked a more patient, safe and accommodating place and people to do it with. Special thanks to Anne and Maika who looked after us through our diving journey

Please note that the flight from Nadi to Vunisea Kadavu is a small aircraft and there may be flight availability issues. Therefore, it is important to book this flight, in advance. The flight schedule is also subject to change so please make sure that this flight is available before making any bookings at Oneta Resort.

There will be a charge of FJD 150 per person round trip for the boat transfer service taking guests from the Kadavu airport and back.
