SEVERE SECURITY & HOSPITALITY ALERT – ROBBED & MISTREATED Stolen wallet recovered by Fiji Police – cash gone – systemic mismanagement throughout the hierarchy Future guests should know exactly what happened to us before deciding whether to stay at Koro Sun Resort. The most serious fact first: I was robbed during my stay. My leather wallet contained approximately FJD 1,500, EUR 200, additional US-dollar cash, my driver's licence and multiple payment and membership cards. I filed a police report. Three weeks later, Fiji Police recovered my stolen wallet and returned it to me. The cash was gone. This was not a forgotten or misplaced wallet. It was stolen. Police subsequently recovered it. The cash was missing. That alone constitutes a severe security warning. What happened before and after the theft makes this, in my assessment, an equally serious hospitality and management warning. SECURITY ALERT – THEFT, CONTRADICTIONS AND INACTION On the morning of our departure, our luggage was in the lobby/bar area while we had breakfast, completed check-out and waited for a transfer arranged through reception. When I discovered the theft the following morning, I called the resort's official telephone number at 09:59. My telephone records confirm the call. I was told that the matter would be checked. Nobody called me back. I therefore returned personally to the resort. Reception then told me that my telephone call had not been received. I was also told that new guests had already occupied our room. Shortly afterwards, however, resort staff took me by golf cart back to that same room. No new guests had checked in. These were not vague misunderstandings. They were specific statements made to me that were contradicted by what I could establish myself. I formally requested that management investigate the theft, preserve and review the relevant CCTV footage and establish who had access to our room and luggage areas.

Where do I start! The brochure on Booking.com is false. There is no golden sand beach. I’m sure we got shunted to another level of accommodation or the description was wrong. Ordering meals 8+ hours in advance seemed wrong and showed up in the quality of the uneatable and overpriced food. We have many examples. Too many staff led to huddles of staff “partying” while we waited for a drink. We felt the resort was generally old and run down and needed leadership and investment to get it back but the south coast of Savusavu is coral, exposed to South wind and cloud. Many other issues and honestly we’re not that strung out but this place has issues.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Koro Sun, enjoyed the well maintained, clean and beautiful surroundings, along with the lovely Lilly ponds. However, our first night at the Sand Bar was a little disappointing with the lack of service, not able to order what we wanted, like pizza , and the vege pies, Thai salad too hot to enjoy.
