Can recommend!

The bed was comfortable, hot water thermos in the room with coffee and tea available was a very welcome touch! The large porch with comfortable chairs was a lovely spot to wait out the rain. This homestay had the highest quality food throughout our Fiji stay, often serving large portions of delicious fish! The local cats were very fun and friendly!

Worth knowing

When the tide was out, we were unable to go swimming. No fault of the property. A fan in the room would be nice.

Staying with Maika and family was the highlight of our trip. The location is stunning — peaceful, beautifully set, and just a short walk from the village and resort. Our room was ocean front, and the only sound we fell asleep to was the sound of the waves. Maika & family were attentive, and never intrusive — always there when we needed them. The home-cooked meals were a highlight in themselves: generous portions, varied and delicious. We also did a snorkel tour with them and saw a few sharks — an experience we won’t forget. We could also walk to the village and to the resort from there, which was nice. The sense of peace and seclusion here is rare and precious. We’d return in a heartbeat. If you’re looking for something genuine, unhurried, and away from the crowds — this is it. Thank you, Maika. Ps. I’m not adding photos to the review as I don’t want to ruin the surprise :) For us it was amazing to see it when we arrived and be surprised ♥️

Worth knowing

An amazing stay in every way. One thing worth knowing before you book: the terrace is shared between both rooms, so if the property is fully booked you’ll be sharing the outdoor space with other guests you may not know. A small privacy consideration to keep in mind — but in no way a dealbreaker for what is otherwise a truly wonderful place.

Our stay at Max's was the highlight of our trip. More special than the two beautiful resorts we stayed at. This is down to the hospitality and friendship from Nesco, who looked after us from the time he met us at the Yasawa Flyer until the transfer to Octopus resort. We hung out and ate with locals in the village and shared stories over a bowl of cava back at the house. Clean room on the beach, with no other tourists in sight, apart from the day trippers to the village. Good local food and shill vibes.

Worth knowing

The food options were limited as we ate local meals. No beer available . Bring your own and use Max's fridge to cool it down.

Amazing views and location right on the beach. Short hike to octopus resort on the other side of island. Great snorkelling. Comfortable accommodation and bedding.

Worth knowing

Max had left to go to the village for majority of a day so was unavailable to book any activities. Minimal interaction with any of the locals (besides the friendly dogs and cats) so we were mostly left to ourselves to do our own activities. We only stayed a night so may of been different if we were around longer. Would recommend bringing your own snorkeling mask, provided one was uncomfortable.
