This place basically ruined our vacation. We experienced no power, no water, no internet, dirty rooms, awful food, constant lies, and no refund. Rooms differ from the photos (no TVs, no big sofas). In "executive" rooms, showers are outside and hot water pressure is extremely weak. The concrete pavement is unsafe and very slippery when it rains (we both fell). I stepped on something sharp (likely a nail from the decaying wooden deck) and injured my foot through water shoes. Food is terrible. "Continental breakfast" means just toast, porridge, and a bit of fruit daily. No eggs, sausages, or cheese. Dinners are twice as expensive as anywhere else in Fiji and awful (watery chicken curry, off-tasting spaghetti). The room was dirty and smelled bad. Room service only made it worse, leaving a dirty mop water odor. There is no mobile service and wifi works only in the restaurant. We had power outages nearly every day, starting around midnight. Management claimed they were "getting fuel for the generator" every morning, lying that the issue would be resolved. The final straw was a total water outage. We were repeatedly lied to that it would be back in 30 minutes. Before midnight, staff brought us a bucket of pool-smelling water to wash ourselves. Felt like a safety hazard, as even with no water they continued to serve the meals in the restaurant. We checked out 3 days early. The resort refuses to refund us. They blame a recent cyclone, but the hotel we moved to (which was nearby) and all local shops had absolutely no such issues. I contacted the Consumer Council of Fiji, and even here I feel like the resort is gaslighting the authorities. So basically our stay at Wellesley Resort was one of the worst experiences we ever had. Avoid this place at all costs.

I like the independence you get where you are left to have peace and quiet and if you need something you just ask, but I would prefer a bit more room service for cleaning or offering to sweep and refresh all towels. I didn’t want to bother the staff so much so I didn’t ask for much. I know they would be happy to help though. The only disappointing thing I could say is the kayaks were so old they were full of water and so so heavy and we were actually concerned they may sink. Some brave guests did take them out though. You can hire the ones from the resort next door if you want.
