Jolame Homestay was a truly authentic and cultural experience. Living with a family in a local village was a great time and they are all very very friendly.
House described as very clean and homely.
Hosts (Jolane and Maria) repeatedly praised as very kind, welcoming and helpful.
Excellent village location and remote island setting; authentic local experience praised.
Mixed: comfortable bed but serious issue with fan stopping after ~2 hours causing very hot, sleepless nights.
Limited amenities: solar electricity means battery fans that run only part of the night; beach hammock uncomfortable (rope).

Worth knowing
The facilities were sometimes a little dirty at times but that is completely understandable given it is a local village.

I had a great stay by Maria and Jolame, to be disconnect for a couple of days from internet, electricity etc. and to live in a basic style,was the best for me to come down. Just to enjoy the hospitality of the locals, the beautiful sea, hiking, snorkelling and the good food from Maria, didn’t need something more.

Maria and Jolame are incredibly kind. Maria cooks Fijian cuisine and lets your stomach happy for the rest of your stay. Good location in the village, really close to the beach.

Maria and her husband are the kindest and warmest people, they make you feel so loved and welcomed - treat you like family. I loved EVERYTHING, a real authentic Fijian experience. I was solo travelling and never felt lonely, I met some lovely people at the homestead and went on a day trip organised by jeleme. It was so special. Maria cooks a feast everyday and yummy cakes, missing laughing with her and wish I could stay longer. Definitely will come back, Much love !
